Items of energy

We give them many names- charms, talismans, souvenirs, sacred objects, symbolic trinkets, Sometimes they are the items we imbue energy and intent into and sometimes they are the take-home items for your altar that symbolize something personal and were obtained from the ritual or workshop. Unfortunately, many of these are plastic or contain plastic, that never biodegrades or ends up someplace that can lead to the destruction of ecosystems and risk the lives of other beings. Even more so for these than larger plastics, because they are usually small and easily ingested. These can easily be replaced with wood strips that are personalized with a wood burner, stones, seeds, or some other raw material from nature, and probably cheaper!

When glue is used, most adhesives use compounds like polyvinyl acetate (PVA), epoxy, polyurethane, and cyanoacrylate polymers. Aside from the crude oil that’s involved, these substances have their own additional environmental impact with waste management during the manufacturing process, and raw materials used. Always use a product that contains biodegradable glue or, better yet, make your own!
